Ekta Kapoor Revives ‘Naagin’ With A Sixth Season. And Here We Thought This Show Was Hissstory
We all know about Ekta Kapoor’s love for icchadhari naagin, a mythical shape-shifting snake, who likes revenge and hates snake charmers. When Ekta Kapoor started the supernatural fantasy thriller television series Naagin, which Bollywood has been obsessed with since ages, the television ratings shocked everyone. The audience loved Mouni Roy’s performance. Since then, Ekta Kapoor has launched 5 seasons of the Naagin series which eventually went downhill in the TRP race. But Ekta Kapoor being the ‘Queen of Soap Operas’ just announced the new season of Naagin with a short teaser. Looks like more drama is awaiting us!
On Sunday, the makers treated fans to the show’s first-ever glimpse. They released a short teaser of 22 seconds that introduces the theme of the sixth season of the series. The new season promises to be different from other seasons. From the video, we can see a serpent taking over the globe and the narrator says that the world has undergone a lot of changes. It seems like they are referring to the Covid-19 pandemic. By the end of the teaser, the narrator says that the Naagin has also undergone a major change which is something really intriguing for the audience. Sharing the video, it wrote, “Iss badalti duniya ke rang dekh, laut rahi hai woh jiska sabko hai intezaar! #Naagin6, jald hi #Colors par.”

In 2015, Naagin started off with actors Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan in the leading roles. Mouni also went on to lead the show in its second season and Karanvir Bohra replaced Arjun as the male lead. The third season aired in 2018, starring Surbhi Jyoti, Pearl V Puri, Anita Hassanandani and Rajat Tokas. In 2020, the series got a brand new name with a new star cast. Titled Naagin: Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel, the show starred Nia Sharma and Vijayendra Kumeria as the lead, which did not get good TRP due to mediocre writing and average acting. The last season of the series went off the air in February 2021. The show featured Surbhi Chandna and Sharad Malhotra.

Ekta Kapoor had dropped a hint about the star-cast of the new season. According to the reports, Mahekk Chahal will be leading the show who recently appeared on Khatron Ke Khiladi season 11. However, there is no official announcement regarding the cast of the series yet.
Talking about Ekta Kapoor, she announced on her social media account that she has been diagnosed with Covid-19. Sharing her diagnosis, she wrote, “Despite taking all precautions, I have tested Covid positive. I am fine and request everyone who has come in contact with me to please test themselves.”

According to the reports, the sixth season of Naagin series is set to premiere from January 30 onwards.
