Recently, the maknae, which means the youngest, Dino, stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist with a new song under his aged alter ego, Picheolin. In a candid chat on Ahn So Hee’s YouTube channel, Dino opened up about the heavy pressure that comes with being the maknae. He moved to Seoul at just 14 years old and has lived and worked with the large group for 14 years. Adjusting to so many different personalities was not easy. At the age of 20, the constant need to maintain a diligent and cheerful image became too much. He reached his breaking point and even told the older members he wanted to leave the team.
Instead of causing a big fight, this honest moment turned into a turning point. Dino gathered his courage and shared his honest thoughts. The conversation helped the members understand one another better and brought them closer. It was a brave step for the youngest member who had been quietly carrying his burdens for years.
Dino also revealed that interacting with fans gives him the most comfort and strength. He now feels determined to grow both as part of SEVENTEEN and through his solo work. He wants to discover and show his own identity, not just stay in the role of the cute maknae.
