There is no way I am not my own worse enemy with the kind of content I consume under the pretext of “guilty pleasure”. Be it trashy reality shows or horrible viral content, I somehow enjoy this type of stuff that makes me cringe to death. And even if you aren’t an expert at cringe-worthy content, there is no way you have been able to escape the charms of the talented Dhinchak Pooja and her viral song ‘Selfie Maine Leli Aaj’. The selfie queen is back with another song about a very pressing global issue, which is? Selfies, of course! Let’s take a deep dive into her new song, ‘Ek Or Selfie Lene Do’. To which I would like to ask, “kisne roka?”

Okay, so 5 years after her previous hit, Dhinchak Pooja is back to mark her territory in the world of selfies with her new song ‘Ek Or Selfie Lene Do’. The song talks about her need to take a selfie at 1-2 A.M. which is an absurd priority to have but you do you, I suppose. Not only does she want to take selfies in the middle of the night, she wants to take them in an array of foreign locations! “Eiffel Tower ke samne, Taj Mahal ke pass; Burj Khalifa ke neeche, Statue of Liberty ke saath,”say the lyrics of ‘Ek Or Selfie Lene Do’. I absolutely love how she sounds more disinterested in singing her song than any of us do listening to it. Also, I cannot move on from the fact that the tune, the beat and Dhinchak Pooja’s own singing are all on different paces and are not at all in tune with one another.
I for one think that two songs, multiple trips and staying up till the wee hours of the morning are way too many efforts for a selfie. But, if one has the luxury to do so, who am I to be a selfie-blocker? Anyway, while many try to maintain relevancy in pop culture and mainstream media, Dhinchak Pooja has proved that she can scoop in with a new song and bring the limelight to herself again with ‘Ek Or Selfie Lene Do’.
