Twitter User Points Out Errors In Deepika Padukone’s Cannes Film Festival Jury Intro. Cannes They Not Hire A Better Writer?!
As an English literature major, I feel like I have a default auto-correct in my head at all times. And while I have turned down the grammar nazi side of me over the years, I can’t help but find myself mentally editing when people speak or write improperly. However, there are times when I just want to sit and point out every error someone has done on the piece because it is just that badly written. And clearly, I am not the only one who does this as Twitter user Shreemi Verma went on to repost a tweet by Deepika Padukone where she will be on the jury panel for Cannes Film Festival 2022 and talk about how badly Deepika’s introduction was written. And frankly, I agree!
We were recently given the good news that Deepika Padukone will be on the jury panel for the Cannes Film Festival 2022. However, the introduction of the actress was written so badly that a Twitter user had to retweet it saying, “cannes film festival has so much money they could’ve hired a better copy editor”. With lines and phrases such as, “Indian Actress, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Deepika Padukone, is a huge star in her country, actor, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur from India,” and “English language film”I can see why people are criticising the writing.

I personally feel like this was just carelessness on Cannes’ part because no other explanation seems plausible to me. I don’t know whether this went through edits but if it did, the editor clearly wasn’t doing a great job either.
