‘Cirkus’ ‘Sun Zara’: Even Shreya, Papon’s Vocals Couldn’t Save The Bizarre Song

Cirkus’s song ‘Current Laga Re’ was recently released and a few days later, we have been served with the second song from Rohit Shetty’s mass entertainer. Since, the lead character in the film, Ranveer Singh will be playing a double role, the new song ‘Sun Zara’ shows us both his characters, who have separate lady love, BTW. One has been played by Pooja Hegde and the other by Jacqueline Fernandez. The lead vocals for ‘Sun Zara’ have been given by Shreya Goshal and Papon. The lyrics have been penned down by Kumaar.

‘Sun Zara’ was released on December 16, Friday and contrary to the film’s previous song, this is a romantic track. It stars, Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde. Okay, were you thinking about which was the better pair between the two? However, moving on, my first impression of ‘Sun Zara’ is that it gave me retro feels, and well, since the movie is set in the 60s, we could expect one such song. The styling of the characters also justifies that. Similar efforts have been put into the background score, lyrics, and vocals. The beats of the song are soothing, but the added bonus is Shreya Goshal and Papon’s vocals. The music beginning with the sound of the trumpets is interesting.

Both the lead couples in the film will be quite different in the portrayal of romance, and this evidently is given out in the song. The overall choreography in the song is playful, simple, and quirky but the hook steps of the song can also be considered umm…bizarre.

After listening to the song, the one and only thing that impressed me is that it is an original composition and efforts have been made to give us a sweet romantic song. However, nothing really works for me. The funny steps, the mediocre lyrics with the background score absolutely fails to impress. Except the vocals, I don’t think, the song has anything else that makes it work listening on loop.
