‘Cirkus’ ‘Aashiqui’ Song: Music, Lyrics Are Good But What Is That Hook Step!

A dance-worthy song!
‘Cirkus’ ‘Aashiqui’ Song: Music, Lyrics Are Good But What Is That Hook Step!

The Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus has created a buzz among movie-goers with its thoda confusing trailer. Fans are not sure what to expect from the film but are looking forward to Singh’s double role in it. The movie is a Rohit Shetty directorial which means the fans can expect madness, fun and comedy from it! Well, to build anticipation about Cirkus, the makers have released a new song from the film titled ‘Aashiqui’. It is sung by Badshah and Amrita Singh and the track’s composition is done by the rapper himself.

Firstly, Badshah knows just how to catch people’s attention with his songs! No matter what the lyrics are, his songs will stay stuck in your head! And ‘Aashiqui’ is another from his body of work that will play in your mind on a loop. Right from the beginning, the upbeat electronic music had me hooked from the first note.

Paired with this, the perfectly rhyming lyrics make it all the more difficult to stop tapping your foot! Amrita Singh’s voice matches the energy and sensuousness of Badshah’s voice. Thankfully, the lyrics are not crass except for that one line that went, “Back maarti, front maaryi, ladki yeh current maarti!” Umm, I am not sure what this means and I know for a fact that this line has been stuffed in the composition for the sake of it!

The visuals of the song look nice, too! They go well with the music and the lyrics, making it an enjoyable song to listen to! The track gives off thoda bohot retro vibes also.

But but but… I am massively disappointed with the choreography. What in the name of God is that hook step? I will go ahead and call that step an abomination in the name of dance. YES, it is that bad! How did Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandes agree to do that step? If the makers create an original song for the film, how about they also make efforts in giving us better hook steps as well? That was the problem with Cirkus‘ ‘Sun Zara’ song as well! The only song that passes the vibe check so far from the movie is ‘Current Laga Re’.

But apart from that, ‘Aashiqui’ has a good chance of getting played at all clubs and pubs at New Year’s party this year!
