Camila Cabello Explains Why She Was Hesitant To Talk About Her Mental Health And What Helped Her Heal

There is still so much stigma associated with seeking therapy and seeing a therapist. This is one of the primary reasons why people refrain from sharing their mental state and do not want to go to therapy. American songstress Selena Gomez has been very vocal about her mental health journey and how she battled anxiety and depression. She is also the co-founder of Wondermind, a safe space where people can ‘come together to explore, discuss, and navigate their feelings’. Recently, in Wondermind’s May cover issue, singer Camila Cabello was invited where the My, Oh My Singer has opened up about her mental health journey and what was the best advice she got.

Camila said that at that moment, everything feels ‘dizzying’ and your mind is on a ride where you are thinking you just want someone to help you get off it. On how she battled anxiety and how it affected her physically, the 25-year-old singer said that she felt a tightness where she feels like she cannot move and how her hands and everything is ‘tied’ up.

The Havana singer went on to recall the time when she felt ashamed of speaking up about how she felt. She went on to say that she was scared and felt her brain is ‘broken’ and what she is feeling is not ‘normal’. Camila also shed light on why she was hesitant to open up about her mental health issues and it was because of the stigma surrounding therapy. Elaborating on the best advice she received on this journey was that ‘faking’ or ‘pretending’ worsened her mental state. She also said that her therapist advises her even today to say the truth and be vulnerable.
