Bryce Dallas Howard Was Underpaid For ‘Jurassic World’ Until Chris Pratt Stepped In. Why Can’t She Get Equal Pay Without A Male Actor’s Help?
In recent times, many celebrities from around the world have time and again opened up about the pay disparity that female actors face. Remember the time when Taapsee Pannu openly spoke about how male actors who started with her are earning way more than she is? And after that, all the trolling that Kareena Kapoor Khan got for asking a particular amount for playing the role of Sita. If you think this is just the condition of actors in Bollywood, think again. Recently, Bryce Dallas Howard, the fame of the popular Jurassic World series, opened up about how she was paid so much less than her co-star Chris Pratt. Pay disparity at its best, isn’t it?
In an interview, Bryce Dallas Howard claimed that she was paid “so much less” than her male co-star Chris Pratt for the Jurassic World series despite the fact that he has kept on fighting for equal pay in Hollywood. She revealed that in 2014 when she negotiated for the three movies she didn’t get through since times were different.

Bryce Dallas Howard said, “I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less… When I started negotiating for (Jurrasic World), it was 2014 and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies and so your deals are set.”
In fact, the 2018 reports also claimed that Bryce Dallas Howard was paid $2 million less than her male co-star Chris Pratt. At the time, Howard took home $8 million and Pratt went home with $10 million. Of course, the figure is sure to be a lot more now.
But even now, the 41-year-old actress gets paid less than her co-star despite the fact that he has tried to help her negotiate. Bryce Dallas Howard said, “What I will say is that Chris (Pratt) and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me, ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.’”

Speaking of Chris Pratt’s fight for equal pay, Bryce Dallas Howard complimented him and said she loved him so much. She even revealed that it was because of him that she was paid so much more for things like games or rides than she was for the movie.
But the sad truth is that even though things are a bit better for Bryce Dallas Howard, the reality is that pay disparity still continues to plague film industries. We’re still far away from our goal of equal pay for male and female actors.
