Desi Twitter Wants To Boycott ‘Raksha Bandhan’ After Writer Kanika Dhillon’s Old Tweets On ‘Gaumutra’ Go Viral. Kya Connection Hai, Yaar?

Boycotting any and every film on Twitter has in itself become a trend, these days. And most of the time, the reasons why people are wanting to boycott a film do not even make sense. Now, it just feels like Internet users are just ganging up to boycott any new film that is gearing up for a release. Well, I never thought any of Akshay Kumar’s projects would ever face this wrath but surprisingly it is. The actor’s upcoming film Raksha Bandhan has begun trending on Twitter even before it hits the silver screen because people want to boycott it.

People Want To Boycott Raksha Bandhan

If you are wondering if it is because Akshay Kumar said or did something that offended people, then no. It was the writer of Raksha Bandhan, Kanika Dhillon whose tweets have sparked outrage on social media. Twitterati has dug up old tweets of the writer and reshared them to slam her. Previously on multiple occasions, Kanika Dhillon has tweeted about ‘gaumutra’ (cow urine) and taken jibes at the ruling central government and people have pulled them up.

Given how sensitive people are about cows in our country, they have taken offence over her tweets. One of the Twitter users wrote about why Kanika has taken to abusing cows while another went on to call her an ‘urban naxal’. One of the Twitter users also went on to say that supported the anti-CAA laws and was also seen at JNU.

The film is jointly produced by Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films. The release date of the film is slated to receive theatrical release on August 11, 2022.

We’ll have to wait to see how well the film fares.
