BLACKPINK’s Jennie Has A Fish Named After Her By Chinese Researcher. Mindblowing!
The news has excited both scientists and K-pop fans around the world.
In a surprising discovery, scientists have named a tiny new fish after BLACKPINK member Jennie. Researchers from Sun Yat-sen University found this fish in the mangrove forests of the Pearl River estuary in China. They gave it the name Brachygobius jennie. This makes it the first fish from the bumblebee goby family ever recorded in the country. The news has excited both scientists and K-pop fans around the world.
A postgraduate student named Jiangyan Tian first noticed the unusual fish while doing field research. These fish had colours and patterns different from any other local species he had seen. He collected samples and carried out genetic tests in the lab. The results clearly showed that this was a brand new species unknown to science until now.

This fish is the smallest in its genus. Adult fish reach only about nine millimetres in length. Many experts think it may be the smallest fish living in China and one of the tiniest fish species in the entire world. Its small size and special look make it very special among other gobies.
The scientists decided to name the fish after Jennie Kim from BLACKPINK. Tian chose her name because her songs gave him energy and inspiration during his long years of study and research.
BLACKPINK fans, aka Blinks, are very happy about the news. They are posting lots of hearts, kind messages, and happy comments on social media. Many fans say this is a cool and unique way to honour the K-pop idol.
Right now, Jennie is busy with her solo career. She is on a big 2026 global festival tour. After performing as a headliner at the Governors Ball in New York City earlier this month, she has many more big shows coming up in Europe, North America, and Asia.
