Ashok Kumar’s Daughter And Actress Bharti Jaffery Passes Away, Son-In-Law Kanwaljit Singh Says She Was An Inspiration
It really breaks my heart when I hear of a person passing away. And today, on September 21, this is the second person that I have known who has passed away. Yep, after comedian Raju Srivastava, it is now the daughter of the legendary actor Ashok Kumar, Bharti Jaffrey, who passed away on Tuesday, after battling a prolonged illness. Bharti Jaffery was an actress who starred in movies such as Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Saans, and Daman. Sharing the news of her demise, was actor Kanwaljit Singh who is married to her daughter Anuradha Patel. Along with sharing the news of her demise, Kanwaljit Singh also shared details regarding the final rituals and where they will be held.
Bharti Jaffery who was married to Saeed Jaffrey’s brother Hamid Jaffery succumbed to her prolonged illness on September 20, 2022. While sharing the news of her demise, her son-in-law, Kanwaljit Singh shared pictures of himself with the late actor and revealed details of her final rites.

Sharing the news of the actor’s demise on his Instagram, Kanwaljit Singh wrote, “Our beloved Bharat Jaffrey, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand mother, Aunt, Neighbour, Friend and inspiration has departed us today 20 Sep. We will bring her home at 1:30 pm today for her final goodbye at 403 Ashok Kumar Towers, 47 Union Park, Chembur 71, and thereafter cremate her at Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp. (translated) Om Shanti.” followed by two joining hands emoji.

After hearing the news of her demise, filmmaker Nandita Das spoke to a leading daily wherein she gave her condolences to the actor’s family. She said, “Bharti Jaffrey was a vivacious and warm person and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her with her thoughtful gestures. She never forgot to wish me every birthday. Or pick up a souvenir from her trips. I will miss her very much. And not forgetting she was an extremely talented actress.”
Truly, the passing of some people leaves a void that is hard to fill. May her soul rest in peace.
