Remember those days when all of us would take out time to sit and watch Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill review bad films on their Youtube show Pretentious Movie Reviews? But a few years ago, the duo stopped the show which left us disappointed. And now, stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath said that he and Kanana Gill stopped the show because they ran out of “extremely bad movies to review on the show.
In a recent interaction with Mid-Day, Biswa Kalyan Rath said that at the time, they were simply going with the flow until they ran out of films to review. In fact, the comedian also reminded us that Pretentious Movie Reviews completes 10 years in 2024 while adding that the show had a great ending. He concluded saying that 9 years after the show, people still haven’t had enough and want more of the show. But we just can’t stop thinking about how good their reviews were. So, we took a moment to put together a list of movies that we think Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill should review in another season of Pretentious Movie Reviews.
1. Brahmāstra
This Ayan Mukerji film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt made us all cringe with the number of times Alia’s Isha called out to Ranbir’s Shivaaaaaaaa. Despite their not-so-sizzling chemistry, apparently, it’s only Alia’s Isha who can turn Ranbir’s Shiva’s ASTRA on….

2. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan
Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan turned out to be a disappointing and outdated film that’s nothing more than a cringefest. This not-so-entertaining film totally deserved a classic Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill Pretentious Movie Review!
3. Cirkus
Despite the double dose of Ranveer Singh, Cirkus is a total snoozefest with stretched and unfunny jokes that don’t even land. It sure is a circus but a dull and cliché one that piques no interest. Iska review toh definitely banta hai.
4. Liger
Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, this film is titled after a crossbreed of lion and tiger aka Liger. And Hauterrfly assures that it’s a crossbreed that should never have been bred in the first place. And don’t even get us started on Ananya Panday’s cringe character.

5. Hungama 2
Starring Shilpa Shetty and Paresh Rawal, Hungama 2 is a classic comedy-drama with misogynistic and sick jokes. It’s a film that will take you back to the old Hindi films that make us wonder how far will men go to crack jokes at the cost of women.
6. Dhaakad
I simply have one piece of advice for Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill, brace yourselves for the nightmares this film will give you. Kangana Ranaut’s spy thriller is anything but a spy thriller. With a plot which is lost AF and a lullaby called ‘so ja re’, Dhaakad will give you a few sleepless nights but it’s worth a pretentious movie review.
7. Indian Matchmaking
But hold on, there’s more. If not a movie, could we maybe get a pretentious review of the iconic Netflix show Indian Matchmaking? If not us, at least Sima Aunty deserves some love from Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill. And like Sima Aunty says they have to be flexible and adjust and compromise a little on this one.

TBH, there’s no shortage of bad or extremely bad films and shows to review and we truly, sincerely hope that Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill take our list into consideration!
