AR Rahman, Saira Banu’s Children Request For Privacy Amid Parents’ Divorce
AR Rahman and Saira Banu issues a joint statement about their separation on Tuesday!

Popular composer AR Rahman recently separated from his wife Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage. Their joint announcement on Tuesday shocked fans and later that night their three children also reacted to their parents’ separation. A R Ameed and Khatija Rahman asked the composer’s fans to give them some privacy and thanked them for their understanding.
AR Rahman’s Children React To His Separation
Vandana Shah, Saira Banu and AR Rahman’s lawyer announced the couple’s separation on Tuesday evening. Rahman also used X (previously Twitter) to corroborate the news. Later that night, Rahman and Saira’s three children, Khatija, Ameen, and Raheem, took to Instagram Stories to respond to the news.
A R Ameen wrote, “We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding.” His daughter Khatija Rahman, who is also a singer, wrote, “I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Thank you for your consideration.” Their third child Raheema Rahman shared a screenshot of her father’s Tweet and wrote, “Keep us in your prayers.”

AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married in 1995 in an arranged marriage set-up. On Tuesday, November 19, they issued a joint statement saying, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira and her husband Mr. A R. Rahman have made the difficult decision to separate from each other.”
The composer took to X and wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”
