Actor Annu Kapoor found himself in the middle of a controversy after his infamous ‘milky body’ comment on Bollywood star Tamannaah Bhatia. He received a lot of justified backlash for his statement online. And during a recent interview, he justified his comment and also reacted to the backlash to clarify his stance. For the unversed, during a chat on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Annu Kapoor reacted to Tamannaah Bhatia’s performance on the song ‘Aaj Ki Raat.’ He said, “Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai.” This comment instantly went viral online and got him major backlash for the same. And now, during his appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, he shared content on the same. He said that he had shows in America and asked his creative team to suggest good, ‘googly-type songs.
“Then they played this song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’. I said the composition is very good. I said the composition is very good. They said the song is very popular, but contestants won’t be able to score in it, so it can be a googly song because the ‘mukhda’ doesn’t fully land.” Kapoor stated that he watched the song and said that Tamannaah had danced very well and that was all. Talking about the backlash, Annu said that the issue increased because of the language and said that many pointed out that the phrase ‘milky body’ is commonly used in English.
The veteran actor said that the phrase is okay to say in English but not in Hindi. He further stated that Bhatia was his children’s age and that his comment was wrongly taken by people who started calling him an ‘old man.’ He further said that he appreciates people’s physical appearances rather than desiring them. Kapoor said that admiration for a person’s physique does not equate to lust and drew a distinction between observation and intent. He even gave his admiration for ‘Rolls-Royce’ as an example.
He concluded it by saying that if Tamannaah felt bad about the statement, he would touch her feet and she would say nothing because he is 71-years old and that his intentions were not bad.
