Angelina Jolie Reveals Details Of Domestic Abuse By Brad Pitt In Countersuit. This Is Proof That Abuse Can Happen To Anyone!
Angelina Jolie has been making headlines these days for her ongoing row with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The financial decoupling of the couple has turned into a long drawn out court battle. Recently, Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife for “violating his contractual rights” by selling her half of the French winery, Château Miraval that is co-owned by the couple, without his approval to the subsidiary of Stoli Group. In response, the actress has filed a cross-suit revealing that she sold her stake to the subsidiary of Stoli Group after negotiated with Brad did not work out due to his demand for a nondisclosure agreement. In her cross-suit, Angelina Jolie has disclosed shocking details of Brad Pitt’s abusive behaviour on a private plane in 2016 which led to the breakdown of their marriage.
In her lawsuit, Angelina Jolie has revealed that the negotiations to sell her share of the winery to Brad Pitt didn’t work as he demanded that she sign a nondiscloure agreement prohibiting the actress from speaking about the actor’s emotional and physical abuse against her and their kids outside the court. In her filing, the actress has detailed the physical and verbal abused metted out by Brand on her on their private jet in September 2016. The filing revealed that Angelina Jolie along with Brad Pitt and their 6 kids were flying from France to Califorina when Brad choked one of their kid, struck another in the face and grabbed Angelina by her head and shook her. He also allegedly grabbed her shoulder and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall and then went on to punch the ceiling of the plane a number of times. The actress has also accused Brad of pouring beer on her on one occasion and on another, he allegedly poured beer and red wine on their kids. The incident was investigated by the Federal authorities but did not bring criminal charges against the actor but the actress filed for divorce post the incident.

Earlier, this year, in August, a redacted FBI report of the case was leaked in the media and was reported by several outlets. Angelina Jolie’s case filing states that she has been constantly attempting to shield their kids from having to relive the the incident from September 2016 but Brad Pitt’s lawsuit trying to gain control over her finances has pushed her to come out and defend herself publicly on these issues.
What’s worse is that Angelina Jolie is a privileged woman with power and access to resources and yet she couldn’t escape abuse at the hands of her partner. Most of us look upto actors and their glamourous lives and perfect love stories but when the ugly truth reveals itself, it’s extremely heartbreaking for all of us to witness. More so, because it kills whatever little hopes we have of escaping this harsh reality. Women across the world have been suffering and dealing with domestic abuse since time immemorial and Angelia Jolie’s case is proof that abuse can happen to anyone and anywhere. Angelia and Brad were the perfect couple and were adorded by people across the globe but if their relationship can turn sour and end in abuse, what hopes do the rest of us really have?
In fact, as per the World Health Organisation estimate, 1 in 3 women across the world have either been subjected to physical or sexual violence at the hands of their partner throughout their lives. This means that 30% women of the world experience violence but that’s just a rough estimate. A large number of women who suffer abuse don’t even talk about it. And the cold reality is that being privileged or from high society or from economically higher class does not mean that you’re safe from domestic abuse. Domestic abuse can happen to anyone irrespective of their class, caste or situation. Angelina Jolie is proof of the fact that domestic abuse can happen anyone. And it’s time that things change. This reality also needs to change. Women should not have to live with the fear of experiencing domestic abuse.
Thankfully, Angelina Jolie had the resources to fight back and walk away from her abusive partner but not all women are that lucky.
