A lot of debate has been going on around Pushpa actor Allu Arjun’s remark on online trolling. While the actor was trying to ask the fans not to indulge in spreading hate on social media, he ended up saying something that was found pleasant by the fans. What Did Allu Arjun Say On Online Trolling?

The Pushpa actor was recently at the Allu Arjun Fans Association (AAFA) meet, which took place in Hyderabad. He shared his thoughts on online trolling. Addressing his fans, anti-fans, haters and trolls, Allu Arjun requested all of them not to waste their time spreading hate on social media and create a more positive space for the fandom. Backing his request with an example, Allu Arjun said that if somebody had 100 Rs, they would not spend it on things they don’t like, and that’s exactly how they shouldn’t be spending their time spreading hate. The actor ended his speech by saying, “Go wait outside the house of the girl you like instead.” This line has sparked backlash on social media.

Social media users did not approve of the last line in Allu Arjun’s speech. Many opined that it was problematic of him to casually pass on a remark that promoted stalking and harassment. Users on social media wrote that Allu Arjun asked fans to stop encouraging trolling and instead normalised stalking by suggesting that a man should wait outside a woman’s house.

It’s true that actors, celebrities or any public figure should be very careful with the statements they are making on a platform. The concerns raised by various social media users are valid, considering the rising crimes against women in our country. While the actor’s intent may be right, how it may be perceived by several men is hard to guess. And therefore, such casual remarks should be avoided by public figures.
