Aamna Sharif Says Playing A Negative Character As Intense As Komolika Impacted Her Mental Health

One of the most iconic negative characters of Hindi TV serials is none other than Komolika. But playing such a negative character can take a toll on the actor who’s playing it, especially on their mental health. In fact, this is something that Aamna Sharif recently spoke about in an interview when she spoke about playing Komolika in Kasauti Zindagii Kay 2. The actress said that some of the things the character did were so negative that they affected her mental health.

Aamna Sharif who stepped in as Komolika in Kasauti Zindagii Kay 2 after Hina Khan left the project, said in an interview that playing such a character not only pushed her out of her comfort zone but also affected her mental health. She went on to say that though she had played the role of Sulochana in Ek Villain, it was a grey role and nothing as intense as playing Komolika.

Aamna Sharif said, “It was so heavy to play her because the scenes Komolika performed were so negative. I remember in one specific scene I had to kill a newborn which played with my mental health.” The original and legendary character was played by Urvashi Dholakia so well, that it has left a standard that very few actors can surpass.

Speaking about taking up a character as legendary as Komolika, Aamna Sharif said that the role was challenging but that is what motivated her to give her best. She said that she had seen Urvashi Dholakia acing the same role in Kasauti Zindagii Kay and making it iconic, and so she felt that it was a legacy she wanted to carry on.
