The renowned innovator and educationist Sonam Wangchuk is currently on an indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. His demand is only to have a dialogue with the government regarding the future of the Indian education system, and to ask for accountability for the lives lost. The 3 Idiots actor Aamir Khan has also reacted to Sonam Wangchuk’s strike, and he also addressed the conversation around the film inspired by his life. Read on.
What Did Aamir Khan Say?
Aamir Khan recently attended the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) in Melbourne. He was asked about the ongoing discussion around Sonam Wangchuk as an inspiration for the character of Phunsukh Wangdu. The video of the interaction was shared on the handle of journalist Nabanita Sircar. In his response, the actor said it is a misconception that Phunsukh Wangdu’s character was inspired by Sonam Wangchuk, and that there was no truth to it. The actor also clarified that Omi Vaidya, AKA Chatur, was wrong about the statement on 3 Idiots. Aamir Khan. Further, he added that when the story was being written, they did not have any information about Mr Wangchuk, nor did he know him personally.
However, Aamir Khan hailed Sonam Wangchuk’s work, although he echoed the collective opinion that he should end his hunger strike, which was affecting his health.

On the other hand, many actors like Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Zeenat Aman, Soni Razdan, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, among others, have also urged Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, and for the Government to have a dialogue with him.
