“Here To Win”: Trailer Of The Ranveer Singh Starrer ’83’ Is Finally Out And Here Are 5 Thoughts I Had While Watching It

“India, India” we’re here to cheer again, as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone drop the trailer of their much-awaited sports drama ’83. Bringing back the era that scripted history to life , when India, the underdogs, lifted the cricket World Cup in 1983. Starring actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Jatin Sarna, Dhairya Karva amongst others, all come together to form Kapil Dev’s winning squad. What looks impressive apart from the massive backdrops, is actor Ranveer Singh’s portrayal as Kapil Dev and wife Deepika Padukone who plays his on-screen wife Romi Bhatia. Slated to release on December 24, 2021, the Kabir Khan directorial brings back a bag full of emotions with each frame well-weaved to recreate the historic win.

So, here are 5 thoughts I had while watching the trailer:

No Dull Moment

Actor Ranveer Singh has never failed to impress the audience with his unmatched magic onscreen. And with ‘83’ I am excited to see him in a fresh avatar, playing the legendary Kapil Dev. From adopting the physical look to grasping the then captain Kapil Dev’s style of speech, which falls right in time with no traces of a caricature. Each character slides into their part like a hand in a glove, which makes me excited to watch more than the 3 minutes 49 seconds of the film that the trailer is here serve.

Has Got It All

From the stadium chills and cheer, behind the pitch scenes, big laughs to an Arijit Singh melody that stitches the nation and each home’s emotion in unison, 83 has got it all. With monologues like “Ground ke bahar humari life mein kuch bhi ho raha ho, jab hum ye uniform pehen ke ground mein utarte hai, humara ek hi maksad hota hai, jaan laga ke, desh ke liye khelna,” that surely offers goosbumps. The Ranveer Singh led narrative is basically a larger than life Hindi film, to be only enjoyed on the big screen.

No Bollywoodised Version:

What shines above all is the portrayal of the events being presented in their most authentic version with no added Bollywood masala. From the characters to the nail-biting scenes, director Kabir Khan seems to have successfully presented a story in its most unfiltered form, or at least what the trailer helps me understand…(and picture abhi baaki hai mere dost).

Celebration Of The Entire Cast:

Though the film is being labelled as a Ranveer Singh show, I definitely believe that every actor comes with a popularity of their own. Whether it’s Pankaj Tripathi, or Punjabi singer/actors Hardy Sandhu, Ammy Virk or the Tamil star Jiiva, I am excited to watch these stars perform in their debut film. Just how every player in a team has a charm of his own, Kabir Khan too celebrates the entire cast and each member with a special mention of the legendary players as essayed by the actors onscreen, as seen in the trailer, which is something so unique.

It Is All In The Trailer:

While a trailer of any film is a series of events that at most times leave the audiences surprised with many questions looking for an answer. 83 my friends stands apart. With the display of almost every moment from the film, the trailer to me almost replicates a blockbuster short film with equal time given to the plot setup, dialogues, characterization and climax. Unravelling the excitement, I hope the film has something more in store which didn’t make it to the trailer.

All and all I really wish 83 stands by the buzz it has generated for over a year because my expectations are sky-high!!

Produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, Reliance entertainment and 83 film ltd, the sports drama will hit the big screen on December 24, 2021.
