A Creator Used Shraddha Walker Murder Case To Create Content, Looks Like Insensitivity The New Trend On Social Media!

POV: you are going through your day as per usual. You are lazing around/waiting for something/ laying in bed and scrolling through your phone, probably Instagram. And then in the sea of cringe-worthy content, you come across that isn’t cringy but also insensitive and tone-deaf. And then you realise that this is a reel by Aarush Gupta about the horrific ongoing Delhi murder case of Shraddha Walkar who was brutally murdered by her live-in partner. And moreover, it is set to the song ‘Dastaan – E’ from Om Shanti Om. That is exactly what happened to me earlier today. I am disgusted and now I will make sure you guys are too!
Firstly, what is with people making content out of events that are clearly grave and have nothing humorous about them? Now I am all for dark humour but there is a fine line between dark comedy and blatant insensitivity. It is safe to say that most people don’t understand or see this distinction. The same thing happened with the whole Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp case. People took to social media and mocked the whole trial as if weren’t talking about a problematic and abusive relationship.

Also, in case you weren’t aware, a man named Rashid Khan is being looked for by the police because he made a video trying to justify the murderer’s actions. Imagine waking up one day and thinking that justifying the actions of someone who horrifically murdered a woman is a good idea. But this is what I am talking about. Why do content creators believe that tragedies happening in real people’s lives are fuel for their content? If it is an attempt at trying to catch a trending subject and its clout of it, it is a very sad one at that.

The news reporting on Shraddha Walker's tragic and horrific murder has all elements of hate, bigotry and revenge but not even an ounce of empathy for her.

The sad part about this is that all publicity is now considered good publicity. Most of these creators are aware of how problematic their content is and are choosing to still upload it. I genuinely believe that even if they are bashed, it gets them the attention and views they want and that is all this boils down to. Think about it, I was completely unaware of this video before someone else shared it to criticise the creator. And I am certain you were too before you read this entire rant. And while we are here bashing Aarush Gupta for his reel but he is still getting the views he made the reel for. I think it is time we as viewers decide what is worth watching and more importantly, worth talking about.
