In the Indian household, it is quite a rarity when the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law get along. This general opinion that saas and bahu do not have a cordial relationship is formed because most houses see friction between the two women. Eyebrows get raised when it is learnt that in those few cases the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law are on good terms and do not cause kalesh in each other’s lives. Well, a video of a similar household has gone viral where an Indian mother-in-law is teaching her Dutch daughter-in-law to make various south-Indian dishes, and it’s so sweet!
The video was shared by Prabhu Visha on his Instagram handle. It started with his mother showing his wife how to make the perfect crisp dosas. Apart from them, she was also seen teaching various other Indian dishes like puri, idiyappam, aapam, puttu, rava upma and others! She was not seen just teaching her to cook these dishes, but also how to eat using hands, as we Indians usually do at home.
The reel was shared with the caption, “Trying eating with hands it’s a different feel, it’s best to be explored than to be explained ?#indianbreakfast #southindianbreakfast #eatingwithhands #dosa #aapam #kullipaniyaram #puttu #ravaupma #idiyappam #poori #nagercoil #india #alkmaar #netherlands There are much more in the South Indian breakfast list but let’s keep that for the next reel ?.”

The man also shared yet another video of how he and his then-fiance had to wait for things to settle down post-pandemic before they came back to India to get married. The video was a compilation of him and his fiance coming to India, the pre-wedding festivities and how they finally got married.
It indeed was lovely to see dosas being made in a cross-cultural household.
