Exclusive: “Brokers Would Say No,” Trinetra Haldar On House Hunting In Mumbai As A Transgender

Finding a home in Mumbai can be quite a task, and especially when you’re a single, independent woman, chances are you’ll have to suffer a tad extra to find your happy abode in the town. Speaking about the same, actress/doctor and content creator–Trinetra Haldar shared her experiences of looking for a home in the city of dreams. Haldar arrived as a guest on Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist and raised some important issues.
In conversation with host Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Trinetra spoke about her journey of finding a home in Mumbai. As a transgender woman, Haldar spoke about the horrors of house hunting and said how many brokers would refuse to help her out. She mentioned–”Very very bad. Quite a few times, the brokers would ask me to less negotiate because of my profile. One person straight up told me that it won’t be possible to find a home because I am transgender.” She added–”It is not like I chose this life, but I chose to love this city so, after a certain point you have to stop cribbing about it because there is nothing you can do about it and just move on.”
