Sunny Leone Recalls Heartbreaking Experience With ‘Failed’ Surrogacy And Opens Up About Adoption

Many actors use their digital platforms to express their thoughts on a multitude of topics and experiences, one of which is embracing motherhood. And while we all talk about the happy, glowing moments, the behind-the-image struggles rarely find a voice. Opening up about her journey with failed IVF and surrogacy procedures, actress Sunny Leone, now a mother to three children, shared her journey to motherhood.

Talking about the same, she shared with a news portal, “We were going through the process of surrogacy, which takes a long time. It took about a year-and-a-half from start to finish and during that time, before we decided ‘hey, why don’t we just adopt?’, surrogacy wasn’t going as planned. We had six eggs – four girls and two boys. In America, you know the gender and you can do genetic testing and all that kind of stuff. That’s in the US, not here. So we did IVF (in vitro fertilisation) and the girls didn’t turn into a baby, so that was really heartbreaking. You feel like a failure, you feel so low and so upset about it.”

Talking further about her decision to adopt a baby girl, she mentions, “We went there and we were seeing all these babies and I was like, ‘Why can’t we just adopt a baby? What is the difference? She is still ours. We are not connected genetically but we will be connected through our heart.’ So, that process started. Because that other process was not working, this process is a ‘what if’ as well. It takes a little bit of time, a lot of paperwork, a lot of due diligence. Then we found out we were having twin boys and a little girl all in the same week. We call that God’s plan.”

Posting images with her husband Daniel Weber, their eldest daughter Nisha Kaur Weber and younger sons Noah Singh Weber and Asher Singh Weber, Sunny is often spotted sharing happy moments on her social media handle. Defying the odds, Sunny Leone has never shied away from talking about her struggling days in the entertainment world. Opening up about the ‘tough survival,’ she often broke through the stereotypes and brackets that defined her position in the industry. And opting for surrogacy, just like many celebrities including Preity Zinta and husband Gene Goodenough who recently welcomed twins, the procedure has gained greater acceptance in India over the years.

On the work front, Sunny Leone will next be seen in a web series titled Anamika.
