Twitter Says Men Dressing Up As Women To Mock Them Is Misogyny Diguised As Humor. We Agree!
Attention paane ki ninja technique!

Social media has given people the power to ‘create content’. And there are many people who have made the most of this opportunity to create content that is funny, relatable or informative. But sadly, there is a large number of content creators who resort to misogyny to garner views and likes because originality toh se kahan reach milne thi? Have you seen how guys make videos on TikTok and Instagram reels mocking women getting ready for festivals or special occasions? They think their videos are funny because apparently making videos on women is funny! But such content only highlights chauvinism and misogyny.

A Twitter user shared a screenshot of a male content creator on TikTok dressed up as a woman and showing how women get ready on Eid. She shared the screenshot with the caption that one day there will be a conversation about how men mock women under the disguise of humor, and how it is actually misogyny but right now, no one is ready for that conversation!

What I fail to understand from these videos is how is mocking women dressing up even funny. Why mock them for it? The girls are just showing off their outfits and makeup which they clearly put in a lot of effort to get right, unlike you, who are making the video wearing a purana black t-shirt and mother’s dupatta.
taking digs at women, or wives in general is the typical desi comedy prototype and they are not ready to unlearn, chauvinism so deeply embedded. So true ab toh some women should be given copyright royalties by these cheap famous comedians.

Mocking women runs in desi households. Given how patriarchal the society is, the men cannot stand a woman looking good and getting complimented for it. And because they cannot say anything nice about her looks, they resort to mocking her to try and get the audience’s attention. You know these are the same men who mock women for dressing up but ask their girlfriends to send pictures later in the night. See the double standards here?

Even guys have started sharing ‘get ready with me’ videos. Do you see women mocking them for it? No, right? In fact, women hype the guy up to boost his morale instead of pulling him down. Bade saiyaane kehke gaye hai, “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all” but some men are yet to imbibe this.
