Cricket Fans Trolling Players’ Wives, Daughters, And Girlfriends, Thoda Sportsman Spirit Aap Bhi Seekh Lo!

It is stupid of them to drag women into this.
Cricket Fans Trolling Players’ Wives, Daughters, And Girlfriends, Thoda Sportsman Spirit Aap Bhi Seekh Lo!

The cricket josh is high among the IPL fans this time just like all other times. The excitement in the air will go a couple of notches up if teams like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians or Royal Challengers Bangalore will be playing. It is cute seeing fans get emotional or sad when their favourite teams do not win but it is equally infuriating when these fans drag women into the game. Cricket fandoms always target the players’ wives, girlfriends and daughters when their favourite team does not play well. Be it IPL or World Cup, women are never spared in any.

In the recently held IPL match between CSK and RCB, people dragged Anushka Sharma and made fun of her expressions when Virat Kohli was dismissed on the field. Before that, Sara Tendulkar and Suhana Khan were dragged and compared on their skin colour.

I don’t even get how these men add a woman connection in the men’s IPL games. Every other day there is a tweet or a comment on a popular female personality sitting in the stands while she is just there to enjoy the game. Now, of course, if she is a partner of the player and he ends up getting dismissed, she is naturally going to be disappointed, right? Like the fans do when their favourite player is stumped, and they are not even related to them.

So, why make memes about Anushka Sharma, and drag her personal life into this? This was not the case when Women’s IPl was on. In fact, even then, players like Smriti Mandhana were constantly trolled for losing.

Recently, a very intelligent man on Twitter compared Sara Tendulkar and Suhana Khan’s beauty based on their skin colour in the MI Vs KKR game. Bhai, you are there to see the game or do this? It is so irrelevant to the match! Focus on the game, and if your favourite player loses, get annoyed at that.

It is these men who need someone to pin the blame for the loss on someone and when they cannot blame the players, they turn to their wives, daughters and girlfriends. We get that you are sensitive about your game but keep to the players who are playing it. What is this ugly behaviour of dragging their daughters, wives and girlfriends?

This misogyny of the fandom needs to be called out as frequently as possible by the cricket players themselves, and it needs to end soon. Because ab zyada ho raha hai.
