Hautetalk: Why Do We Assume Actresses Are Getting Divorced If They Drop Husband’s Surname On Instagram? It’s Regressive!

Have you noticed the latest trend of how divorce rumours are getting spread? Well, it’s weird and illogical at the same, but we have seen a lot of examples in recent times. Nowadays, people and fans are too quick to judge a celebrity’s personal life based on their social media handles.  People assume that a celeb couple is getting a divorce if either of them deletes their couple pictures from Instagram. Not just pictures, even if a female celeb removes her husband’s surname on Instagram, people start rumours about their divorce. As bizarre as it sounds, the conclusion has been made in the case of celebrities like Divya Khossla, Ranveer Singh, Natasa Stankovic and more. Here’s why this trend is becoming problematic each day!

Savi star and Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Khossla had to address her divorce rumours after she removed her husband’s surname from her Instagram handle. The actress’ team clarified that Diyva made changes in her name due to some astrological reasons and had also added an extra ‘S’ to her maiden name. This same incident happened with actress Niti Taylor. In her case too, fans suspected that she was parting ways with Parikshit Bawa when she dropped his surname on Instagram. She too bashed the news as fake and gave the real reason behind it which was again astrological! Similar conclusions were made for Natasa Stankovic and Hardik Pandya.

A few days back, people noticed that the wedding pictures of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were missing from the former’s Instagram handle. In no time, fans started speculating that the couple was headed for a divorce. The rumours became so strong that Ranveer Singh had to make a subtle statement that there was no truth in it. He wore his wedding ring to an event amid the divorce rumours. Even in the case of Natasa Stankovic and Hardik Pandya. When Natasa removed their couple’s pictures from her Instagram, their divorce rumours became stronger.

Honestly, this is just funny and does not make any sense. Social media handles are not equivalent to what is happening in a celebrity’s personal life. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are going to welcome their first baby soon, the couple also took some time off to spend some quality time together, it’s just stupid to think that they are getting a divorce only because Ranveer removed their wedding pictures from Instagram. BTW, his team also clarified that the pictures were just archived. On the other, the fact that people judge a woman’s marital status based on whether she is using her husband’s surname or not is so regressive. It’s on the woman if she wants to use her husband’s name or not, and on social media, this is NOT the criteria to decide whether she is in a happy relationship with her husband or not. It’s a matter of choice here. There’s something called privacy and we are forgetting those boundaries when it comes to the celebrity’s life.

Not everything that happens on social media is the ultimate truth. A couple who might be going through hardships in real life can look happy on Instagram. So it’s high time that we stop judging a celeb’s personal life based on what is going on in their social handles. And their personal life should not even be a point of extensive discussion in the first place, discussing their professional work still makes more sense even if they are public figures.

So next time, stop and think before making such bizarre conclusions about a celeb’s life that you honestly have no clue about!
