Sonali Bendre Re-Styles Her 16-Year-Old Kurta And Reveals An Interesting Story Behind It
The idea of re-wearing age-old clothes, lying in the deepest layers of our closet has become a popular one amongst celebrities. Also, because it is not just cool but is sustainable too. While we spotted Sameera Reddy sporting her wedding day saree in a new avatar recently, it is now actress Sonali Bendre who is here to re-love pre-owned clothes.

Taking to her social media handle, Sonali Bendre shared two pictures and gave us a sneak peek into the story behind her white chikankari kurta. In the two pictures posted by Ms Bendre, we spotted her wearing the same kurta during a meeting with our very own James Bond aka Pierce Brosnan. Another picture in the post featured Sonali, posing alongside husband Goldie Behl as they came to attend Saqib Saleem and Huma Qureshi’s Eid party. Talking about the significance of the same white ethnic wear, Sonali wrote in the caption, “Then and now pics are my favourite! It shows me how much has changed yet some things haven’t… like me fitting into an old outfit – I wore this 16 years ago, during my first trimester.”

Well, we too love the idea of re-wearing an old outfit, which indeed is reminiscent of so many stories and the time gone by. We loved how Sonali picked an old piece and re-styled it for a different occasion. Also, this growing trend of re-styling vintage and heirloom pieces has now become my most favourite. I mean, it was only a few weeks back, when we spotted bride Alia Bhatt making a sustainable choice at her wedding, as she got a custom-made lehenga designed by ace designer Manish Malhotra. Interestingly enough, Alia’s gorgeous fuchsia lehenga for her Mehendi ceremony was stitched out of waste materials with pieces loaned from her old outfits and assembled into a patchwork design (smart). Keep ’em coming ladies, we’re making notes.
