‘Squid Game’ Actress Jung Ho-Yeon Becomes The First Asian Model To Feature On Vogue Magazine Cover. We’re So Proud!
South Korean model and actress Jung Ho-Yeon began her career in 2010 as a freelance model. She made her international runway debut during New York Fashion Week and became the global ambassador for Louis Vuitton in 2021. Jung Ho-Yeon made her acting debut in 2021 with the popular Netflix thriller series Squid Game. The show became an international hit and the audience loved her character Kang Sae-byeok, which brought her worldwide attention and critical acclaim as the show’s breakout star. And now, Jung Ho-Yeon has become the first East Asian and Korean star to independently grace the cover of America’s Vogue magazine.

On January 6, Vogue posted some pictures from the glamorous photoshoot featuring Jung Ho-Yeon on their social media account. This is yet another accomplishment in her career as she appears on Vogue’s February cover. For the first time in 130-year of Vogue, an East Asian celebrity has been featured on the cover for the reputed fashion magazine. Jung Ho-Yeon also sat for an interview and discussed her life after the success of Squid Game with Vogue. The magazine shared the pictures of the actress from the shoot with a caption that read,”From #SquidGame to Supernova! Overnight success isn’t new, but model-turned-actor Hoyeon Jung’s vertiginous climb feels entirely of the moment. Vogue’s February issue steps inside the whirlwind with the heart-on-her-sleeve megastar.”

Talking about her busy life and the huge success of the Squid Game, Jung Ho -Yeon said, “In just one month, my entire life was completely changed. I learned English, I trained my posture and voice, and worked hard to expand my worldview in terms of art and film.” The model-actor further discussed her career goals and Hollywood plans. “I have always wanted to go to Hollywood and to act in America, and I still do. But Squid Game changed my mindset. It doesn’t have to be an American movie or a European movie, it’s the story and the message that are more important,” said Jung Ho-Yeon.
