Ranbir Kapoor Says ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ Is His Fondest Memory Of Father Rishi Kapoor, Thanks Paresh Rawal For Stepping In

The year 2020 is the year that most people around the country want to forget. Most of us lost our friends, family, and even our favourite celebs to either Covid or another medical issue. In fact, the year was equally tough on Bollywood – it lost so many of its finest gems. One of them is the always lively veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. And even though the actor is gone, he is far from forgotten. His last film, Sharmaji Namkeen, is all set to release this month and I know for a fact that his fans as well as fellow B-Towners can’t wait to see him perform for one last time. In fact, honouring his father’s legacy, Ranbir Kapoor shared a special, heart-melting message for all Rishi Kapoor fans where he talks about how the actor wanted to finish the movie but passed away before he could. He also extends gratitude to Paresh Rawal for taking up the challenge and helping them complete Sharmaji Namkeen.

Ranbir Kapoor, in a heartwarming video, reveals that Rishi Kapoor always had wished to complete Sharmaji Namkeen even with his health deteriorating, but couldn’t do so. The actor goes on to say that the unfortunate death of his father had them trying VFX and even making Ranbir wear prosthetics to complete the film but none of it worked out well enough. And so, the veteran actor Paresh Rawal stepped in and ensured that Rishi Kapoor’s last film gets a fitting ending.

Sharmaji Namkeen is a story about a retired man who at a very later stage in life finds his passion, cooking, after joining a women’s kitty circle. The Hitesh Bhatia directorial is a relatable and heartwarming tale of an everyday common man that sends a message that life doesn’t end when one retires. The film alongside Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal who play the same character, also stars Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar.
