Sai Pallavi Compares ‘The Kashmir Files’ To Cow Vigilantism, Sparks Row

No matter where you are in the world, religion continues to be a very sensitive subject to broach. People feel connected to their religion and deem it to be a very important aspect of their identity; an insult to their religion is an insult to their own selves. Hence, it is no surprise that most public figures refrain from making comments on and discussing the subject. However, actor Sai Pallavi has made a comment on The Kashmir Files and islamophobia in India which has sparked debate amongst netizens.

In a video, Sai Pallavi has ruffled feathers by talking about the similarities in what was shown in The Kashmir Files and the violent atrocities that Muslims face in India today. Sai Pallavi stated that the makers of The Kashmir Files highlighted how Kashmiri pundits were massacred. She then said that if one perceives it as a religious war, it should be noted that a mob recently killed a Muslim man while chanting Jai Shree Ram for transporting a cow. Pallavi then added that there is no distinction between the two scenarios. You should not inflict harm on someone for religious reasons.

When she was asked if she ever faced politics in college she said she grew up in a relatively neutral environment. Hence, she regards both sides [Left and Right] neutrally. She then said that if I had been born into a Left or Right wing household she might have taken a side. Pallavi added that she was raised in an impartial family where they were merely taught to be good people. She said that they were also taught to protect those who are causing harm to others and that the oppressed people must be safeguarded. Pallavi stated that she has heard of the Left Wing and the Right Wing, but can’t determine who is right or wrong. After this, she made the comment about The Kashmir Files and the cow vigilantism.
