Reddit Users Unhappy With Mona Singh Playing Aamir Khan’s Mother In Laal Singh Chaddha, Seek Age-Appropriate Casting
The audience was very excited about Aamir Khan’s film Laal Singh Chaddha as the actor was going to grace the silver screens after four years. He was last seen in the 2018 film Thugs of Hindostan. The trailer of Laal Singh Chaddha also created quite a stir on social media when it was released. People went on to draw similarities between Aamir’s character in PK and this film. But the audience has gone on to point out yet another thing that they spotted in the trailer that has irked them. It is actress Mona Singh essaying the role of Aamir Khan’s mother in the film.
In a Reddit thread, Internet users have pointed out that the casting done in the film is not age-appropriate. Casting Mona Singh, who is 40-years-old, as the mother of Aamir Khan, who is 57-years-old, did not sit well with them. They have pointed out that instead of choosing a younger actress to essay the role of a mother, the makers of the film could have chosen an older actress herself.
Here’s what some of the comments read. One of them pointed out that Mona Singh is even younger than Kareena Kapoor Khan, the leading lady in the film and who was also going to be Mona’s daughter-in-law. Another even wrote that she was Kareena’s elder sister in 3 Idiots as well.
