For a week now, Ranveer Singh has been grabbing headlines almost every single day. For those unversed, it is because, on July 22, social media was taken by a storm when pictures of Ranveer’s nude photoshoot for Paper Magazine were shared online. The pictures received a mixed response and even gave birth to some really funny memes. But things got real when an NGO filed an FIR against the actor with Mumbai police, claiming that the pictures were “hurting women’s sentiments”. However, amidst all of this, Bollywood along with other celebs have come together to defend Ranveer Singh and his nude photoshoot – Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Vivek Agnihotri, and many more.

Here is a list of celebs that came out in defence of Ranveer Singh and his nude photoshoot for Paper Magazine:

1. Alia Bhatt

While promoting Darlings when mom-to-be was asked what she thought about Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot, Alia Bhatt quickly replied that she won’t tolerate anything negative spoken about her Gully Boy co-star and friend. She even went on to say that she loved him and he is eternally favourite to all of them and that we all should only give him love.

2. Arjun Kapoor

Even Arjun Kapoor, who is busy promoting Ek Villain Returns when asked to comment on the photoshoot, said, “I think we should just appreciate what he has done. We should all be happy and proud of what he has done and it has nothing to do with me, so you are taking away from what the boy has done. He is proud of his body and is able to showcase that and full marks to him. Knowing Ranveer it’s not even that crazy what he does.”

3. Vivek Agnihotri

The director of Kashmir Files also came out and defended Ranveer Singh. In fact, Vivek Agnihotri called the FIR and the arguments around it “stupid”, stating that there were many pictures of nude women out there and that doesn’t hurt the sentiments of men then why should the 83 actor’s.

4. John Abraham

John Abraham who is also promoting Ek Villain Returns commented on the shoot saying that during Dostana he was also considered to be a sex symbol and that there are many unseen portions of the movie that hasn’t come out yet.

5. Ram Gopal Varma

Ram Gopal Varma went straight out and defended the nude photoshoot and called it an example of gender equality. The 60-year-old director even questioned that if women can show off their ‘sexy bodies’ then why are men judged for it.

6. Masaba Gupta

Seeing the pictures of Ranveer Singh from his nude photoshoot, Masaba Gupta took to Twitter and wrote, “The best cover shot this country has seen. Brave & unapologetic”.

7. Milind Soman

Miling Soman who has done his fair share of nude fashion shoots back in the day came out and defended Ranveer Singh with a cryptic post. The model-actor wrote, “There are as many opinions as people in the world. Who would you listen to?” and in the other, he said, “Things have changed a little since the time of Raja Ravi Varma”. 

Other than them, even Priyanka Chopra called the shoot a “major” and Lilly Singh went ahead called it a major win.
