‘Parasite’ Actress Park So Dam Diagnosed With Papillary Thyroid Cancer, Undergoes Immediate Surgery
South Korean Actress Park So Dam achieved international fame when she played the role of Kim Ki-Jung aka Jessica in the Academy award-winning South Korean film Parasite. But recently, as she was gearing up for her next film Special Delivery, the actress shared heartbreaking news with her fans. During her recent checkup, Park So Dam was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and had to undergo immediate surgery.

According to the reports, after the diagnosis, the doctor recommended immediate surgery. Park So Dam has already undergone the surgery as recommended by her doctor and is recovering from it. Her agency Artist Company issued a statement regarding her health and informed the fans that she will not participate in the promotions of her upcoming film. According to the statement, Park So Dam was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer during her regular health examination. While the long-awaited film Special Delivery will be premiere soon, the actress is extremely disappointed that she cannot be together with fans who have not only been waiting for her but have also shown support for her.

The statement added, “Although actress Park So Dam cannot participate in “Special Delivery” promotions, she is cheering on the “Special Delivery” premiere. We once again express gratitude to the “Special Delivery” actors and production team who are also overcoming a difficult situation together with everyone who supports “Special Delivery” and the actress.” It further stated that she will focus on her recovery ‘in order to greet everyone in good health in the future’ while adding that the agency wishes her best for her recovery.

The South Korean actress has worked in popular Korean dramas like Record of Youth and Cinderella and the Four Knights. Her upcoming film Special Delivery is directed by Park Dae-min. It is set to release on January 12, 2022.
