‘Pachinko’ Star Jin Ha Apologises For Posting Inappropriate Pics Of Elderly Korean Women Without Consent

I feel like there’s a trend going on in the entertainment world of issuing apologies. Celebrities make a mistake, people notice it, they criticise the actor, and then they just get away with it by publicly apologising and I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing. Recently, Jin Ha from Pachinko issued an apology for posting pictures of elderly Korean women on the internet without their consent. That’s so not cool, to be honest!

Jin Ha played the role of Solomon Baek (Sunja’s grandson) in the highly-anticipated series Pachinko, featuring Yuh-jung Youn, Minah Kim, and Lee Minho. He faced a lot of criticism after people noticed his Tumblr account named ‘Korean Flowers In Bloom’. A decade ago, he had posted many pictures of elderly Korean women without their consent on the blog along with inappropriate and sexual captions. According to the reports, the photos were secretly clicked by him on stations, staircases, escalators. The Devs actor didn’t even bother to cover their faces. After seeing the pictures, people started criticising Jin for sexualising and dehumanising the elderly women.

After that, the Love Life actor issued a public apology. In the statement, he mentioned that he regrets the action and informed that he deleted the blog account. He also apologised to all the elderly women and the people.“I sincerely apologize to the senior women whom I photographed. I apologize, as well, to the viewers whom I offended with this Tumblr account. My lack of judgement in 2011 has been pointed out by readers wiser than I have proved to be, and for that I’m grateful,” he wrote in the statement.

Take a look at the statement here:

FYI, he also deleted his official Instagram account, is he taking a break from social media?

We have no idea what he was thinking while clicking such pictures and posting them online. And sexualising a woman is just straight-up creepy regardless of her age. We hope that Jin Ha understood the concept of privacy and consent after this incident.
