Nushrratt Bharuccha Reveals Receiving ’Filthy Messages’ For Playing Condom Seller In ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’
Often actors open up about the repercussions they face for the politics of their onscreen character. And while their lives remain a common topic of discussion on the internet, the trolls can sometimes hit you very hard. And now opening about something similar, actress Nushrratt Bharuccha reveals the impact of online trolling on her mental well-being.
The actress was recently seen playing the role of a condom salesgirl, in her latest release–Janhit Mein Jaari. Her character who is based in a small town of Madhya Pradesh takes up the challenging task of selling condoms in her hometown. While the role in itself brings a new approach to female characters in Hindi cinema, which is definitely interesting and aims to deliver a social image, the internet had some other plans to welcome it.

In conversation with ETimes, the Chhorii actress reveals the amount of backlash and hate that came her way, after the film’s trailer release. For which Nushrratt schooled distasteful comments through a video on Instagram. She further revealed that the trolling did not stop and how it affected her family as well. She revealed her inbox and comments section would get filled with million ‘filthy messages.’ This constant trolling also affected her mental well-being leading to sleepless nights.

Furthermore, she expressed that to tackle the situation, she questioned herself if she should ignore it and move on? Contemplating further, Nushrratt reminded herself that it is a democratic country and even she “enjoys the freedom of speech” and hence decided to speak out against the constant trolling. Well, we think you did the right thing Nushrratt, and a character like such breaks the stereotypes and we only hope to see more appreciation coming any actor’s way for accepting the challenge to play such a role.
