‘Blonde’ Trailer: Ana De Armas As Marilyn Monroe Transports Us Back In Time To Revisit Hollywood Legend’s Tragic Story
Netflix Original movie, Blonde is a much-awaited one. Directed by Andrew Dominik, and starring Ana De Armas, the film is inspired by the 2000 novel by Joyce Carol Oates and it tells the story of Marilyn Monroe. one of the most revolutionary actresses of all time. She was able to pull things that nobody could, at her time. Her ability to smile and not ‘give a fuck’ about anything won hearts everywhere. She was the face of activism and standing for your own rights, at a time when women would just bend and succumb.
Marilyn Monroe became a proper sex icon in an era where sex was actually taboo. She is still, one of the greatest inspirations any woman could ever ask for. But, the sudden and sticking end of her life is what left us all wondering, if there was more to her life than what our eyes could see. Blonde covers the unseen story of Marilyn.
After the very successful release of a teaser where we saw how brilliant and recognisable Ana De Armas looked in her role as Marilyn Monroe, we had been waiting for the official trailer because well, we were sure her looks and her talent together, would blow our minds and really, transport us back in time, to the life of Marilyn Monroe. The trailer dropped this morning, leaving us absolutely shocked and spell-bounded.

But, Was The Official Trailer Worth The Wait?
The trailer right away left all of us spell-bounded as we failed to recognise Ana De Armas. Personally, all I could see in the trailer was Marilyn Monroe, it’s almost uncanny how amazing Ana looks as Marilyn. Then, her acting skills and the way she is able to capture Marilyn Monroe, are genuinely profound.

The trailer shows us an interview that Marilyn supposedly gave towards the start of her career where she is being asked about how and where she got her start and we can see her answer, “Well, I suppose I was discovered.” All the while, we see her in her first interview and it doesn’t seem all that right, the trailer seems to give off a dark vibe as it takes us to peak behind the curtain of the Marilyn we knew and loved. This is her true story and you can already tell the same.
In this trailer, we can also hear her saying, “I suppose you’re supposed to get used to it, but I just can’t”, this clearly shows her struggling with the popularity, flashes and lights. Another part that really stood out for me was when she said, “I can’t face doing another scene with Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn doesn’t exist, when I come out of my dressing room, I’m Norma Jean and I’m still her when the camera’s rolling. Marilyn Monroe only exists on the screen.”. This clearly shows her struggle with her own alter-identity.
There are no doubts that this movie will transport us back in time and behind the curtain of strength that Marilyn maintained as an exterior, all her life. This will show us her reality and I cannot wait to see this movie.
