Navya Naveli Nanda is an entrepreneur who is very vocal about gender equality. She is the daughter of Shweta Bachchan and businessman Nikhil Nanda and Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter. She also has a younger sibling named Agastya Nanda.

Navya said that even in her family her mother always asks her to serve the guest and not her brother. “I’ve seen it happen at home where if we have any guests over, my mother will always say just go and get this or go and get that and I have to play the host as opposed to my brother, who could also be doing the same thing,” she said. She further mentioned that daughters who grow up in joint families are expected to learn household chores and how to serve the guests and take care of them. Navya said that such things are not expected from the male members of the family and it makes women think that it’s their responsibility to look after the house.
