‘Koffee With Karan’ S7 Ep 4 Review: Vijay Deverakonda May Be Cheese But Ananya Panday Stole The Show With The Hot Tea And Puns!
The one episode of Koffee With Karan that we’ve all been waiting for with bated breath is finally here. Yepp, I’m talking about episode 4 of the talk show featuring Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda. This was Vijay’s debut on Koffee With Karan. Ever since season 7 of the talk show began, we’ve all been hearing a lot about the handsome hunk from the South film industry and watching him on the talk show was rather satisfying with all the build-up around it. Karan Johar is known to kickstart several controversies and spill the beans on several industry secrets on the Koffee couch and while the first few episodes have been a little dull, this episode made up for everything that was missing. So here are my thoughts on episode 4 of Koffee With Karan Season 7.
Ananya And Vijay’s Camaraderie
Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda will be seen together in their upcoming sports action film Liger. Since the duo has been working together on the film for some time, it looks like they formed quite a bond. It’s fun to see the chemistry between the two on Koffee With Karan. It’s fun to watch the actress get flirty with Vijay and tease him throughout the episode. But despite their camaraderie, Vijay seemed a little out of place and uncomfortable on the Koffee couch. Irrespective it was a fun watch since the actor also spilled some sly beans without giving too much away. Another thing that we loved was the fact that Vijay and Ananya not only went out on a “friendly” date but they also cried together. Well, that’s one way to bond, guys!
Ananya Panday’s “State Of Affairs”
Ananya opened up about her past relationships and Karan Johar confirmed that the actress was dating Ishaan Khattar and the duo has now broken up. She also spoke about her bonding and relationship with Kartik Aaryan but did not confirm or deny having a relationship with him. But at the same time, Ananya Panday made it ample clear that she has a humongous crush on Vijay Deverakonda as she flirted with him in a humorous manner on the talk show. The actress also revealed that she finds Aditya Roy Kapur “very hot” and it looks like something might be brewing between the duo as revealed by KJo. She also shared that she had a crush on Shah Rukh Khan’s son and Suhana Khan’s elder brother Aryan Khan. Since Ananya wants some “contro” I guess there’s going to be a lot after all these revelations.
Why So Diplomatic Vijay?
While Ananya Panday was all out there and spilling pipping hot goss, Vijay Deverakonda seemed a lot more diplomatic with his replies as he tried to limit what he was giving away on the Koffee couch. The actor revealed that he never makes the first move and waits for the lady to do but it looks like the road to his bed is not an easy one. Vijay refused to reveal his relationship status when asked by Karan Johar but he did say that he’s happy in life but all the Rush Mika puns have us wondering if it’s more than just speculation. When asked about cheese, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, Vijay seemed to have turned on his diplomatic switch and dodged the question. Not very cheesy, Vijay!
But It’s Reddy Problematic…
We all know about the halla that happened over Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy and the Hindi remake of the film Kabir Singh (starring Shahid Kapoor). In this episode of Koffee With Karan, the filmmaker addressed the issue and asked the actor about his take on the film being called misogynistic and problematic and his answers seemed a little too problematic to me, TBH. The actor said that he does not find the film misogynistic or anti-feminist and that he understands and empathises with Arjun Reddy. Well, there’s a glaring red flag. Calling Arjun Reddy’s relationship with Preeti “unique”, Vijay said, “That was their relationship and to them, it was love.”
When asked about the violent streak that his character had, the actor told Karan Johar that he believes that he is nobody to call it right or wrong but the film had a happy ending. He further added that he’s not saying that people shouldn’t have a problem with it because for domestic abuse victims, to watch something of this kind might be triggering. And just when we thought he was making sense, the actor pointed out that despite all the controversies and the hate that the film received, a lot of women watched the film and even reached out to him to say that they want an “Arjun Reddy” of their own as they say his “protective” side. Erm, well, thanks but no thanks.

On the other hand, Ananya Panday had a very clear take on the character and the violence and pointed out that the film may be promoting violence and influencing people and making them think that something as toxic as that is normal behaviour. Thanks for saying it out aloud, Ananya.
The Not So Rapid, Rapid-Fire
The rapid-fire on this episode of Koffee With Karan wasn’t very rapid but it sure was fire! From Hunger Games to date Vijay Deverakonda to Ranveer Singh’s thirst traps to the fact that Chunky Panday doesn’t like to pay for things, Ananya Panday had a lot of tea to spill. Vijay Deverakonda, on the other hand, revealed that Rush Mika, oops! I mean Rashmika Mandanna is a “buddy” and a special one at that. He also said that he thinks Samantha Ruth Prabhu is the most desirable woman in the country while calling her an amazing woman. Psst…Vijay wouldn’t mind posing naked for an international magazine. Well, okay then, we shall wait for some controversial eye candy….

Verdict: Is KJo Being Biased Yet Again?
Now, I must admit that the entire episode was rather entertaining but I cannot help but point out that it seemed like this episode of Koffee With Karan was all about promoting Vijay Deverakonda. In fact, the actor has been mentioned all the 3 episodes before this one. Is KJo promoting Vijay Deverakonda since Liger is a Dharma production? Having said that, during the episode, the actor did seem closed off and rather dull in comparison with Ananya Panday. Moreover, it did seem like Karan Johar was more focused on Vijay rather than Ananya. NGL, while it did seem like KJo may have been biased, overall the episode was fun to watch with all the tea that the actors spilt on the Koffee Couch.
