I’ve been a fan of South Indian movies ever since I migrated to Chennai to study. For me, it is all about the stories they tell – it is unique, original, and meaningful (most of the time). In fact, I’m eagerly waiting for KGF 2, I mean, who isn’t right? But for now, let’s focus on a Tamil movie and how it has been making headlines. Yep, I’m talking about Jai Bhim. Even though the movie was released three months ago, the movie has been making the headlines for good. First, it was nominated for Golden Globes Award 2022, and now a scene from Jai Bhim featuring Suriya was featured on the official YouTube channel of the Oscars. Such a proud moment, isn’t it?
Jai Bhim featuring Suriya, which was released on November 2nd, 2021, and nominated for the Golden Globes Award 2022 under the Best Non-English Language Film category, has now marked another milestone. A scene from the film along with the director’s story’s narrative was featured on the official YouTube channel of the Oscars.
In fact, the makers of Jai Bhim took to Twitter to share the exciting news with their fans and followers. The Tamil movie directed by TJ Gnanavel is a courtroom drama that sends a strong message to the audience. Jai Bhim depicts the fight of a lawyer for the oppressed and caste-based discrimination that still infiltrates our society. In the movie, Surya is seen playing a real-life lawyer Chandru who has dedicated his career and life to helping the oppressed and not charging a single penny for his services.
This is such a proud moment for the Indian film industry that one of our movies was featured by The Academy. Having watched the movie, I can say for a fact that it is a much-deserved validation!
