Jacqueline Fernandez Charged With Money Laundering In Sukesh Chandrashekar Embezzlement Case
In the case against con man Sukesh Chandrashekar, who is accused of embezzling an astounding 200 crore rupees, actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been charged with money laundering. The actor is identified as one of the defendants in the extra charge sheet that the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the money trail in the extortion case, has presented to a Delhi court. The Delhi Police previously apprehended Chandrashekar for allegedly extorting more than 215 crores from Aditi Singh and Shivendra Singh, friends of the late promoters of the pharmaceutical powerhouse Ranbaxy. After learning about the Delhi Police case, the ED launched its investigation into money laundering.
The first charge sheet from the ED detailed Chandrashekar’s suspected usage of the stolen funds. According to the additional charge sheet, Chandrashekar diverted money from the amount he defrauded to give Fernandez presents totalling more than 5 crore rupees. The actor has been listed as a defendant, and it is alleged that she knew the gifts were purchased with criminal earnings. From the proceeds of crime, which included extortion, Sukesh Chandrasekhar gifted Jacqueline Fernandez a number of gifts totalling 5.71 crore rupees.

The ED stated that Pinky Irani, a longtime friend and co-accused in this case, was sent by Chandrasekhar to deliver the gifts to the actress.She had already been questioned by the ED, who had also seized the actor’s belongings. In April, the bureau temporarily attached the actor’s assets totalling 7 crores in compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). These gifts included a horse worth 52 lakh rupees and a Persian cat worth 9 lakh rupees, according to the ED. The FBI has also claimed that Chandrashekar contributed substantial quantities of money to Fernandez’s relatives.

Sri Lankan-born Fernandez made her Hindi-language film début in 2009. In this investigation, the ED has made a total of eight arrests. Chandrashekar and his wife Leena Maria Paul are among them.
