Iconic Moments From ‘Indian Matchmaking’ Season 1 That Will Get You In Hyped For Season 2

Reality shows are the epitome of entertainment, in my opinion. All the over the top editing, the drama, the emotional moments and “real” stories make for an accident you simply cannot look away from. Be it Too Hot to Handle, Love Is Blind etc are prime examples of the same. And while the entire world was suffering due to the pandemic in 2020, Netflix decided to add to the chaos by introducing us to Indian Matchmaking and the hurricane that is Sima Taparia.

Now if you are wondering what a (then) 22-year-old girl was doing watching Indian Matchmaking then let me try and explain myself. A. My mom wanted to watch it and she insisted that I watch it with her. B. I was stuck at home due to the pandemic and genuinely had nothing better to do. And Sima Ainty today blessed my feed with pictures from the second season of Indian Matchmaking and to say that I have utsaah is an understatement. So let’s take a look at 5 of the most iconic moments from season 1 of Indian Matchmaking.

1. Pradhyuman Maloo and his brilliant pick-up lines

Pradhyuman Maloo created a storm on social media when he appeared on Indian Matchmaking. ultimately, he does suit the title of being an eligible bachelor. And while he was mocked for his interest in the kitchen (which I think is cute AF), I am here because I am sadistic and cannot let a cringe moment like this pass by. On his date with Rushali Rai, he asked her, “What do you enjoy? Other than being glamorous.” Go back and read that and die cringing with me, please.

2. Akshay Jakhete and his love for his mom

I feel like Akshay Jakhete and his family were some of the most talked-about people this season. Not only were their problematic opinions on women and marriage criticised but what also made people uncomfortable was Akshay’s love for his mom and also the fact that he wants his wife to be like his mom. Ummm… what?

3. Aparna Shewakramani and her honesty

I feel like Aparna was one of the most hated cast member this season. Her brutal honesty and deadpan expressions were taken offensively and she was dubbed as rude. However, I feel that her honesty is what made her so iconic. It is so rare to see Indian women actually be honest and not take BS that I found her to be refreshing.

4. I am Sima Taparia from…

Sima Aunty adding Mumbai in her introduction has the same energy as outstation people’s only personality trait is that they live in Mumbai. She says that she is from Mumbai and everywhere in the US and it shouldn’t be as funny as I find it!

5. Pandit Ji Throwing gyaan at us

Throughout Indian Matchmaking Sima Aunty has consulted multiple pandit jis and face reader and some of the things that they said are purely genius. From calling everybody stubborn to looking at the stars to predict their sex lives, they have done it all!
