Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Tom Felton And More Mourn Robbie Coltrane, Remind Us There Can Be No Hogwarts Without Hagrid!
Let me start by saying that there is no Hogwarts without Hagrid. When I first saw Hagrid’s character being introduced in Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone, I knew he would be one of my favourite characters from the series! Not just me, he was one of the most-loved characters for many Harry Potter fans. And it is with a heavy heart that I write, Robbie Coltrane, AKA Hagrid, breathed his last on October 14, 2022, at the age of 72.

The moment fans came to know of Robbie Coltrane’s demise, they rushed to Twitter to express their grief. Harry Potter stars like Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, and even JK Rowling, the author of the eponymous book series, have paid tribute to Robbie.
Reportedly, Daniel issued a statement and said that Robbie was one of thr funniest people he has ever met. He also said that he has fond memories with him from the sets of Prisoner of Azkaban when they were all hiding in Hagrid’s hut to keep themselves safe from rain. Daniel said that Robbie would crack jokes and tell them stories to keep them in good mood.

Emma Watson took to her Instagram stories to pay tribute to Robbie Coltrane. She wrote, “Robbie was like the most fun uncle I’ve ever had, but most of all, he was deeply caring and compassionate towards me as a child and an adult. His talent was so immense that it made sense he played a giant — he could fill ANY space with his brilliance. Robbie, if I ever get to be so kind as you were to me on a film set I promise I’ll do it in your name and memory,” Watson continued. “Know how much I adore and admire you. I’ll really miss your sweetness, your nicknames, your warmth, your laughs, and your hugs. You made us a family. Know you were that to us.”
Tom Felton AKA Draco Malfoy AKA everyone’s favourite villain has also taken to his Instagram account to remember Robbie. He shared a picture of him, Emma, Rupert Grint and Robbie standing together alongside a heartfelt caption.

I hope it’s OK to spout memories: I used to ride with Robbie Coltrane between Manchester and London in his sort-of-restored MGA. I’d roll him cigarettes while he discoursed on the ways of the world, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed or learned so much in my life.

I first met Robbie Coltrane almost exactly 40 years ago. I was awe/terror/love struck all at the same time. Such depth, power & talent: funny enough to cause helpless hiccups & honking as we made our first TV show, “Alfresco”. Farewell, old fellow. You’ll be so dreadfully missed

Around last week itself, I was planning to make time to re-watch the Harry Potter movies, and now, I cannot procrastinate this any further. Obviously, I never got a chance to see him in person but from his interviews and his role as Hagrid itself, it was quite evident how much of a sweet, caring and loving person he was. Every time anyone would say something hurtful to Hagrid in the movies, I would want to ‘Avada Kadavara’ them right then!
As the true Potterhead that I am, I raise my hypothetical wand in Rubeus Hagrid’s name. Rest in peace.
