‘Bigg Boss 16’: Why Aren’t Salman Khan And Sajid Khan Addressing The Latter’s MeToo Accusations?

The MeToo movement in India which happened in India back in 2018 was revolutionary, to say the least. In a country where even talking about sexual assault is taboo, female and male victims of sexual abuse from all over the country got the courage to talk about their own sexual assault stories. Many during this time were accused and were found guilty of an assault which included many big Bollywood stars. One of them was director Sajid Khan who was accused by 9 women he had worked with in the past. And after being off the limelight since the accusations, Sajid Khan has emerged as one of the Bigg Boss 16 contestants and spoke to Salman Khan when the show premiered on October 1, 2022. But why are they tip-toeing around the elephant in the room?

Sajid Khan and Salman Khan did gaao bhar ka panchaat but didn’t address the former’s MeToo controversy which caused him to get fired from the successful Housefull franchise and get his movies to flop. He has been rightfully ostracized and is making an apparent comeback with Bigg Boss. But, why are they tip-toeing around the clear elephant in the room? Why has he not been questioned about the 9 SEXUAL ASSAULT ACCUSATIONS he has? And what is with these two indirectly referring to the MeToo accusations as “lows” of Sajid Khan’s life? Lows? Seriously? The man was accused of sexually assaulting women and was rightfully shamed and ostracized for the same! How is that low when he deserves what was coming to him? Are we seriously trivialising the trauma and pain he inflicted upon his victims?

Sajid also said that his sister, Farah Khan advised him to go onto the BB16 as a contestant so that he can show his true self. Like… what?! He showed his true self which is what started this shit show in the first place! Moreover, this weird PR stunt to try and revamp Sajid’s image is absolutely sickening. As if, any sort of personality development on screen will redeem him of everything he has been accused of. And why are Salman Khan and Sajid Khan not directly addressing the MeToo accusations? And if you can’t talk about it, why come on a public platform when you are going to brush all this under the rug? The fact that they barely talked about it and trivialised the accusations on Sajid?
