Since Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, many employees have lost their job. For those working for the microblogging site, this was a huge shock. Stories of sudden layoffs have been haunting readers across the globe. While some employees were spotted celebrating their lost jobs, some others were heading out to take a legal action.

And amongst this list was a visible percentage of pregnant employees. Sharing her story on Twitter was Rachel Bonn, an eight-months pregnant woman, talking about her sudden exit from the team, hours after Musk took over Twitter. Amongst the list of employees who were handed over their exit notice, Rachel said her access to her work laptop was suddenly cut off. Bonn who worked at Twitter as a content marketing manager in the San Francisco branch spoke candidly about her sudden exit from the team through a tweet.

Accompanying the tweet was a picture of Bonn with her nine-month-old son, posing at the Halloween party organised by Twitter. Rachel also took a dig at Musk and said, “Really the last day Twitter was Twitter.” Another amongst the list of pregnant employees, who were laid off from Twitter was–Malabika Das, who bid her team adieu, and mentioned, “Bummer that this happened while 8 months pregnant.”

Not just Das, but a part of those 3,700 employees who lost their jobs was six months pregnant–Shennan Lu. The ex-employee remembered her amazing experience of working at the organisation. Further talking about the alarming discrimination. She talked about how her performance since the last quarter was way better than her male contemporaries, but still, she was laid off instead of them.

Reacting to these stories, tweeple seemed concerned about the complications that many of these pregnant employees would be facing, in terms of financial security, and work during this crucial phase in their lives.

We think this is an inhumane move by the new team under Musk. This sudden firing of employees has also led to a lot of chaos in the internal working system of the microblogging site, with some deserving employees on higher designations, shown the way out. According to reports, Musk fired 50% of his global workforce, yesterday. The reason behind this move is apparently his vision to cut costs and generate more revenue from advertisements, which drastically dropped on Twitter.
