Aaliyah Kashyap, Anurag Kashyap’s Daughter, Reveals She Cries Almost Everyday Because Of Trolling On Social Media. Cyberbullying Needs To Stop!

Explain something to me. Why is it that any time a girl posts a picture wearing lingerie or a bikini, she is attacked by trolls? It’s high time people understand that what a woman does or wears is no one else’s business. And no, it doesn’t mean she is “inviting” rape. While men out there are being let off the hook even after they commit ghastly crimes, women are being subjected to severe cyber-bullying and blamed for being provocative all because they posted a picture of themselves wearing lingerie. They are suddenly being trolled and their DMs are full of abusive messages and rape threats. Is this in any way justified? The people most prone to facing this kind of harassment are star kids. And even though they might not retaliate or show their emotions, being constantly abused, criticized and judged on social media affects them just as it would affect you and me. Talking about social media trolling and how it has made her cry is Aaliyah Kashyap, daughter of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Cyber-bullying is really at its peak at the moment, something needs to be done.

In a video posted on her YouTube channel, Aaliyah spoke about how she deals with the immense amount of negativity on social media platforms. She said that because she is a very sensitive person, even the smallest bit of judgement or criticism affects her very harshly. In this video, she talks about all the hate she received for posting a picture on Instagram while wearing lingerie.

Aaliyah said in her video, “So social media negativity is something I have come to terms with. Like, I am a very sensitive person and even the smallest bit of hate does affect me, but I don’t know. I’m sensitive, I cry almost every day about the dumbest s**t.”

Moving on, she talked about the time she posted a picture in her underwear and received an outpour of hatred. Cyber-bullies trolled her to no end. Aaliyah said she received rape threats, people called her hooker and even asked her how much she charges per night. What utter nonsense is this? Aaliyah said, “People were telling me that I should be ashamed of being Indian and posting stuff like that. People were sending me rape threats, calling me a prostitute, DMing me and asking me what my ‘rate’ was, sending me death threats, s**tting on my family. That whole incident of the picture got me a lot.”

Why is it that every time a girl posts something even remotely revealing, trolls gather to send her rape threats? Why is it the first thing people jump to? All this negativity on social media has made it a toxic environment. Trolls live behind their computer screens and take undue advantage of the anonymity that comes with social media. These kinds of people don’t deserve an internet connection.

Talking about how she deals with trolling now, Aaliyah said, “I just realised that it doesn’t matter because these are people hiding behind their phones and have nothing better to do. I honestly just block everyone. If there is anything even remotely negative on any of my social media, I just block them because I want my social media to be a positive place.”

Cyber-bullying is just getting worse. People are threatening women with rape and sending them messages filled with abuses at the drop of a hat. We are glad that Aaliyah Kashyap is not letting it affect her anymore but that doesn’t make any of this okay.
