Exclusive: Celebrity MUA Daniel C Bauer Talks About Creating Mrunal Thakur’s Beauty Look For FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week Grand Finale
The most awaited fashion event of the year, FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week just closed with a rather GRAND grand finale. And while everyone is raving about the finale, we just can’t take our minds off the beauty of the Lakmé shows of the event. These two shows were all about collaborating fashion with beauty. On Day 4 of the fashion week, designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi teamed up with Lakmé and their 9 to 5 Vitamin C+ Serum range to create a beauty look and collection with hues of sunshine, oranges, ambers, yellows, horizon pinks, purples, dusky teals as well as greens. Ananya Panday closed the show for the designer duo. On Day 5, on the Grand Finale, designer Rajesh Pratap Singh teamed up with Lakmé and its brand ambassador Mrunal Thakur to showcase a collection inspired by Lakmé Absolute Skin Dew Serum Foundation. The makeup looks for both collections were created by celebrity makeup artist Daniel C Bauer. So, in an exclusive chat with Hauterrfly, Daniel shared all about merging beauty and fashion on the ramp this season.
Q. What’s the next big beauty trend that’s going to make it big this season on the ramp?
Daniel C Bauer: I think that the trend is sort of playing around with classics and that classic is great-looking skin.

Q. What’s going to trend in terms of bridal beauty and makeup this season?
Daniel C Bauer: What we have been noticing over the last few years is that brides want to reflect their personality and family values through their looks. It is keeping aligned with tradition and making it relevant today with slight moderate tweaks.
Q. What’s the beauty forecast for the upcoming year?
Daniel C Bauer: I think the beauty forecast for the next 12 months is that the possibility of makeup is endless, there will be more exciting and new ways of playing with makeup.

Q. While we see a lot of fashion and beauty trends on the ramp, what trends do think will make their way to the real world?
Daniel C Bauer: When we are backstage, we are creating looks for the ramp which are all about inspiring. I think people will always be opting for matte lipsticks, but they will also be looking for experimenting with gloss and eyes are open for expression or reinvention. People will be playing more with brows for shaping their faces.

Q. Sweating is a big problem for all of us makeup lovers and with the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI happening outdoors in such humid weather, how do you ensure that your makeup stays sweatproof?
Daniel C Bauer: Prepping the skin is the most important part- Concealing, correcting, and dabbing with loose powder to ensure the makeup stays intact.

Q. Skincare is an important part of beauty. Can you share some golden skincare advice that all beauty girls should follow?
Daniel C Bauer: Washing off make-up is very important apart from prepping your skin with a moisturizer. Vitamin C is a very effective ingredient in today’s skincare regime.
