Wholesome Video Of A Grandmother Dancing To ‘Aankh Maarey’ On Her 93rd Birthday Is Going Viral. This Is Guaranteed To Make You Smile

Initially, I thought that having a quarantine birthday is a nightmare. Having to spend it all alone with no friends to hug, no cake to cut and no birthday shot to down. And come on, if you don’t do all those things, does the birthday even count? Then, as the months progressed, a whole lot of my friends had their birthdays during this horrible lockdown period and we just had to get creative. From surprising them with cake and balloons under their building to making some out-of-the-box collages to post on social media for them, it wasn’t easy. Although, I wouldn’t say it wasn’t fun.  However, I don’t think anyone has had as much fun celebrating their birthday during this lockdown as this 93-year-old granny has had. A video of hers, dancing to ‘Aankh Marey’ from Simmba is setting Twitter on fire. It’s so wholesome and it’s making us wish we had her spirit! 

The video was posted on Facebook by her grandson, Gourav Saha. He also shared a few other adorable photos from her party. Thamma, as he calls her, is seen decked up in a gold and white saree, and to top off her look, she’s wearing a matching party hat. Amongst all the adorable photos and videos, the one where she is dancing to ‘Aankh Marey’, while her family cheers her on is the best thing I have seen on social media in a while.

Thamma’s 93rd birthday party was complete with colourful balloons, party hats and a big chocolate cake with Gems on it. It reminded me of all the birthday parties we have had as children. Those were exactly like this one. Well, minus the adorable dancing granny. 

Gaurav posted the video and several other photos and wrote, “Thamma’s Sweet 93 Birthday”.

You know, while most of us have been struggling, complaining and whining during this coronavirus-induced lockdown, multiple stories of amazing and uber-cool grannies, just like this one, have gone viral. From the three BFF grandmothers who moved in together during this lockdown to binge watch shows and drink wine, to the ‘Gamer Grandma’ who set a world record while playing Resident Evil and Call of Duty. However, my absolute favourite story has been the 103-year-old grandmother who got a tattoo and checked off two things on her bucket list. Seriously, how cool is that?

Thamma’s birthday party looks more fun than any of us have had for a very long time. And watching her dance is like the cherry on top. It’s guaranteed to make you smile.
