How Many  Female Directors Have Won The Cannes Palme d'Or Award?

The entire world is currently eyeing the biggest film festival that happens in the beautiful French city of Cannes.

The festival celebrates films and directors from all over the globe and well, we also get to see some stunning fashion choices by the celebs for their red carpet looks!

Palme d’Or is the highest honorary award of the Cannes Film Festival and this year it has got a record-breaking number of female filmmakers nominated to compete.

Jane Campion and Julia Ducournau are the only two female directors who won the Cannes Palme d’Or award.

Julia Ducournau won for her film Titane which was released in 2021. It was written and directed by the filmmaker and is a psychological thriller.

Jane Campion secured this award for her film The Piano which came out in 2003. It is a period drama film that takes you through a beautiful journey of a mother and daughter.

This year at Cannes, 6 female filmmakers will be competing for the Palme d’Or.
