Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12, 2024, by three shooters. The incident occurred outside Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East. In recent updates, Zeeshan Akhtar, one of the main accused in the murder case, has been detained in Canada, according to reports. According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, he is one of the most wanted accused in the chargesheet.

As quoted in the Indian Express, a senior police officer revealed that though there has been no official communication with Canada, their sources have indicated that Zeeshan Akhtar has been detained. In the chargesheet issued in the Baba Siddique murder case, the Mumbai Crime Branch named Zeeshan Akhtar as one of the wanted defendants.

According to the police probe, Akhtar and Shubham Lonkar were contacted by Anmol Bihnoi to carry out the murder of Baba Siddique. While other people involved, along with the shooters, were arrested, Zeeshan had managed to flee. An officer informed that he had been traced in Nepal, but went missing instantly after that.

Former Maharashtra Minister and NCP Leader Siddique was assassinated on October 12, 2024, in Bandra East, outside the office of his son, former MLA Zeeshan Siddique. While two individuals were detained on the spot, the main shooter fled and was apprehended later by the criminal branch. So far, police have made 26 arrests in the investigation.
