YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Travelled To Pakistan Before Pahalgam Terror Attack: Reports

Hisar’s superintendent of police (SP) on Sunday revealed that YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra was being groomed to become an asset by the Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIO). This was two days after she was arrested on charges of espionage. The SP also shared that Malhotra had visited Pakistan several times, which included a trip right before the Pahalgam attack. She had also been to China.

Addressing a press conference, SP Sawan revealed that Central agencies informed the Haryana Police about POI’s recruitments. According to the reports, they were actively recruiting social media influencers to set a soft narrative. YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on Friday, has detained to police custody for five days. SP Sawan informed about her ongoing interrogation, travel and financial transaction history to determine her source of income.

“Her known income sources do not justify her foreign travel. We suspect external funding. On the surface, she was just a travel blogger,” he added. Her direct contact with the PIOs. While she did not have direct access to sensitive information, her communication with the PIOs during the India-Pakistan war was ‘alarming.’

She had interacted with many high-profile individuals during her visit to Pakistan. Though her arrest was recent, intelligence agencies were already keeping an eye on her. Investigators are also looking into her Indian acquaintances, who may have connected her to PIOs and helped arrange her international travel. Her social media posts are being analysed for hints about her network and ambitions.

Speaking from Sirsa, Haryana, Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur revealed that various ‘anti-national elements’ were detected across multiple districts as a result of ‘Operation Sindoor’. Kapur also hinted at collecting evidence for a heavy chargesheet and also ensuring high punishment.
